Unidentified man found hanging from tree in Srinagar

An unidentified man was found hanging from a tree at Al-Maroof Colony area of Ahmadnagar in Kashmir capital Srinagar. Reports reaching news agency Kashmir Dot Com that one unidentified man believed to be of Gujjar community was found hanging on a tree at Al-Maroof Colony here. A police officer confirmed the incident and said the body of the man was spotted by some locals of the area and accordingly informed the police. A police team was immediately sent on the spot and took the body into their possession for medico-legal formalities, he said, adding that the identification of the man was being ascertained. A case under relevant section of law is being registered in this regard and further investigation is going on, he added. (KDC)

While the weather department here forecasted light to moderate rains in plains and snowfall over higher reaches this weekend, the mercury plunged to sub-zero level at most places in Kashmir Valley and Ladakh on Friday. In fact, barring Banihal, all places in J&K and Ladakh recorded below than normal temperatures this season. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 0.4°C against 1.2°C on the previous night.
