Frequent theft incidents trigger panic in Kalaroos Kupwara

Anguished over the spate of theft incidents, the locals of Kalaroos area in north Kashmir's Kupwara district have appealed to the officials for immediate intervention into the matter. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the residents of Kalaroos said that several thefts have taken place in the villages of Kalaroos since the past month and thieves have decamped with items worth lakhs of rupees. During the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, unknown thieves stormed inside a residential house and decamped with two gold rings, two necklaces, bade earrings, one small earring, and fourty (40) thousand cash. 888 Kilometres of roads built under PMGSY scheme in Anantnag, say officials

Suhail Dar Eight hundred eighty-eight (888) kilometers of roads have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) since its inception in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, officials said. The Executive Engineer, PMGSY Anantnag speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that 888 kilometers of roads were constructed so far since its inception in the district. "In addition to this, the Government of Jammu Kashmir provided 64 kilometers renewal quota whose DLP had been over by 5 years. The total stretch of the roads macadamized during this year (2022) stands at 82 kilometers," Er Syed Ishfaq Ahmad said. Several Kupwara areas cut off following fresh snowfall

Shabir Khan Following fresh snowfall in the upper reaches of the Kashmir valley, several areas in the frontier district of Kupwara have been cut off from the rest of the world. Officials said that areas including Bangus valley, Kumkadi, Budnamal and Pothwari witnessed huge snowfall after which the areas have been cut off completely, which has forced authorities to suspend vehicular movement in the areas. They said that 7 to 8 inches of snow fell on Sadhna Top, Z-Gali in Machil, and Ferkhian Top in Keran, causing treacherous conditions on the roadways. "Traffic has been suspended as a precaution," they said. Meanwhile, the admin has issued an avalanche warning saying that, "Avlanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 3200 metres over Kupwara in next 24 hours."

The Jammu Kashmir admin on Monday ordered the revision Dearness Allowance to Government employees with effective from 01.07.2022. In a notification issues by the Finance Department (Codes Division) Civil Secretariat, Jammu Kashmir, of which a copy lies with The Kashmiriyat, the Dearness Allowance to Government employees has been revised rate effective from 01.07.2022.
