Eight detained in Srinagar for performing dangerous stunts on bike, Counselled

The Jammu Kashmir Police detained eight teenagers and seized four bikes for doing dangerous stunts on roads, officials said on Monday.   "Eight teenage boys detained for doing dangerous life-threatening stunts on Boulevard road on banks of Dal Lake," Srinagar police said in a tweet. The boys, however, were allowed to go with their families after counselling. "The delinquent boys were handed over to families after full day counselling and after receiving good behaviour bond. The four modified bikes used by them have been seized," it said.

Mughal road remained closed for vehicular movement for the second consecutive day due to snowfall, officials said on Monday. The Mughal road, connecting twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri with Shopian was closed for traffic on early Sunday after snowfall at several places enroute including Pir Ki Gali (PKG), Mansar Mohre and Posha, a police officer told GNS. Similarly, the officials said, traffic has been closed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road after snowfall in areas around Sonamarg. The thoroughfare was also closed on Sunday morning but was reopened later. Fresh snowfall however has forced its fresh closure, they said. The vast majority of people who suffered eye injuries as a result of rifle pellets in Srinagar between July and November of 2016 have lost a degree of vision, Times of India reported. Quoting a research paper, the report added that, on 777 eye procedures performed during this time period, over 80% of them have been limited to "counting fingers." The researchers strongly cautioned against using pellet guns on civilians.
