7 lakh tourists visit Pahalgam this year so far

About seven lakh tourists have visited Pahalgam this year with a good number of tourists continuing visiting the tourist destination, official data said. Only 316 foreign tourists visited Pahalgam last year while 2,856 foreign tourists visited this year, it said, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Last year, 4,61,130 visitors including 2,22,975 locals, 316 foreign and 2,37,839 domestic tourists visited Pahalgam. Tourism stakeholders are expecting good tourist flow in winters this year as well and they can earn their livelihood—(KNO)

Famous third gender Kahsmiri Singer Abdul Rashid popularly known as Reshma passed away early on Sunday morning. Rashid breathed his last at SMHS hospital, his neighbour told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), adding that he died at 12 O clock. Reshma was known for the typical and unique song "Hai Hai Wesai, Yaran hai tadepevnas" sung in various wedding functions that went viral on social media. A resident of Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar, Rashid as per his neighbours was a humble, friendly and a great human being. The Jammu Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a BJP Jammu Kashmir leader Sheikh Imran for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and extorting money from various people. An official told The Kashmiriyat that Sheikh Imran, who is a resident of Shiczan area in Anantnag's Dialgam area had been threatening and harassing people for several months. "He had been sexually assaulting the girl for several months in name of providing her compensation and donations. He had also been extorting money from people in name of providing them jobs," he said. Hours after a video went viral on social media in which a youth can be seen beating a school girl, the accused person has been arrested. Reliable sources said that a minor boy (name concealed by The Kashmiriyat, as per law), who is a resident of Zadipora Khanabal, a student of class 11th has been arrested by PS Anantnag in connection with the beating of a school girl on KP road in Anantnag.
