A massive fire has broken out in Yakerboru Bala village in Kapran of Verinag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district. Reports reaching GNS said that fire broke out from a residential house and soon spread to other adjacent houses, besides few cow sheds. A rescue operation is on at the site even as the flames continued to rage, when this report is being filed. An F&ES official told GNS that it is believed that at least five houses and two cowsheds are caught in flames. "Men and machinery is on site to bring the blaze under control as soon as possible", the official said adding "We nonetheless have asked for more machinery and firefighters to avoid more damage." Woman injured in mine blast along LoC in Uri

A 32-year-old woman was injured in a landmine blast along the Line of Control in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, official sources said. They said the woman, Saleema Begum wife of Abdul Rasheed Khatana, was injured near Chrunda Uri. She has left foot injury and the incident happened while she was collecting woods from nearby forest area. 17 years on, maternity-cum-child care hospital in Kangan nowhere near completion

After a lapse of 17 years, 100 bed maternity-cum-child care hospital in Kangan is nowhere near completion. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the land for the hospital was identified in 2005 when the former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad cleared work on the hospital with an estimated cost of Rs 27.66 crores. He said that a decade after identification of land, the foundation stone was laid during the National Conference-Congress coalition government in 2014.
