Taking cognizance of a complaint from a female employee about sexual harassment, police have registered a case against a Principal of a Degree College in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The Principal in question is from Degree College Gurez / Tulail. The female complainant has claimed that she earlier had approached the ‘Committee for Sexual Harassment at Work Place’ that failed to take any action against the Principal. Police after receiving the complaint have registered a case vide FIR number 13/2022 under section 354-A, 506 IPC in this regard. Girl allegedly raped on marriage pretext in Jammu

A girl was raped by a person on a marriage pretext in a hotel in Jewel Jammu district on Wednesday. Reliable sources told Kashmir News Apex-(KNA) that a girl lodged a complaint with Police Station Nowabad stating that a person identified as Raman, a resident of Tehsil Bishnah made physical relations with her in a hotel in Jewel on the pretext of marriage but later refused. The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice on an appeal challenging a Gauhati High Court verdict, which upheld the validity of Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialization) Act, 1995 (repealed by the Act of 2020) and all consequential government orders, including the notification dated February 12, 2021. A bench comprising Justices Ajay Rastogi and C.T. Ravikumar sought a response from the Assam government and others. Students drop out of govt schools in Gurez in the face of shortage of staff

The school education department has been unable to fill posts of five principals, six headmasters and 30 lecturers in Gurez, hitting the smooth functioning of several schools. Official data gathered by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) revealed that six high schools of the region are without headmasters while similarly five posts of school principals are vacant for years now. The data also suggested that of 82 lectures, 52 are working in the valley while 30 are vacant for the last several years. "The headless schools include Chrowan, Achoora, Kanzalwan, Journal, Bulingder and Malingam area of the Gurez valley," it said. ‘Do not charge annual fees from students’, JK admin tells private schools

The Government Fee Fixation Committee (GFFC) Wednesday restrained private schools of Jammu Kashmir from collecting the annual fee from the students. Besides restraining the private school management from charging the fee, the Committee for Fixation and Regulation of fees of private schools said that any deviation in this regard will lead to action. All the school management of private schools are restrained from charging and collecting annual fees for the period Nov 2022 to March 2023, they said. The Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against four Muslim clerics for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Shia community, an official said on Wednesday. A conductor of JCB died while driver and another person were injured after it skidded off the road at Kokran Bridge on ZojiLa in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday.
