Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha advised that the country stop viewing it from the lens of religion as people from other communities have also been killed in large numbers. “It is true some Kashmiri Pandit became victims of targeted killings. But there is another side too… The country should stop seeing this issue on the basis of religion. Slight respite from cold weather in Kashmir, Pahalgam coldest at minus 5.7°C

Amid cold cover and the possibility of isolated snowfall over upper reaches, there was a slight respite from intense cold conditions in Kashmir Valley on Monday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 3.5°C against the previous night’s minus 5.8°C which was the coldest recorded minimum temperature so far during this season. A pregnant lady lost her life due to non-availability of road connectivity in Mujpathri area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Sunday, locals alleged. The residents of Chadak Mohalla Mujpathri told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a lady identified as Zoitina Banoo, wife of Mohammed Hussain of Chadak Mohalla Mujpathri in Shopian had labour pain and they were not able to take her to the hospital on time due to non-availability of road connectivity. The Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday said that a civilian was unhurt after militants fired upon him in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. In a handout to GNS, the police said that police in Shopian received an information about a militant crime incident at Heerpora area of Shopian. Court orders survey of Shahi Idgah in UP from January 2

A Mathura district court on Saturday ordered the survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque, which the Hindu side claims to be built on the ‘birthplace’ of Lord Krishna, by the Archaeological Survey of India from January 2. The report will be submitted on January 20. The court passed the order on a lawsuit filed by Vishnu Gupta of the Hindu Sena. The lawsuit is one of the many by Hindu outfits demanding the removal of the 17th century Shahi Idgah Masjid from the Katra Keshav Dev temple, claiming that the mosque has been built on the ‘birthplace’ of Lord Krishna. Tarun Chug, BJP's top leader said the Jammu Kashmir will go for assembly elections somewhere between April and May 2023. BJP's in-charge for Jammu Kashmir while addressing a party meeting in Jammu asked the party members to get proactive, talk to people and inform them about the achievements. “We have only two-and-a-half months left,” Chug told BJP workers. The BJP plans to fly top leaders including the president of the party, the prime minister, and the home minister to Jammu Kashmir in the next three months.
