Budgam Police books four notorious drug peddlers under PSA

The Budgam police have booked four notorious drug peddlers under the Public Safety Act (PSA), taking the number to 19 this year—2022. In a Press Statement, the Police has said that these four drug peddlers were involved in six (06) NDPS cases registered in various Police stations of the district. They have been accused of promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of district Budgam. Anti Terror agency SIA Jammu has filed charged sheet against 04 militants of LeT outfit, who were involved in carrying out number of attacks in UT of J&K. Only 4×4, vehicles with anti-skid chains to be allowed to move towards Gulmarg

The authorities on Friday said only 4×4 and vehicles with anti-skid chains will be allowed to go to Gulmarg and vice-verse in view of the slippery road condition. According to an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), SDM Gulmarg said the move has been taken to prevent accidents and long-lasting traffic jams. “To prevent accidents and long-lasting traffic jams due to slippery roads, which puts the commuters to much inconvenience, only 4×4 vehicles and those with anti-skid chains shall be allowed from Tangmarg to Gulmarg and vice versa till the thawing of the ice from the road,” it reads—(KNO)

Authorities have issued an Avalanche alert in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh and have asked people to avoid going to higher reaches. The alert has been issued for the districts of Bandipora, Baramulla, Doda, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Ramban, and Kargil. “Avalanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 2500 metres over Bandipora, Baramulla, Doda, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Ramban and Kargil in next 24 hours. Snow cleared on major, vital roads on priority: DC Kupwara

Deputy commissioner, Kupwara Doifode Sagar Dattatray on Friday said all major and vital roads have been cleared of snow and are in use since morning only. Talking to media persons, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) he said other roads will also be cleared soon. He said administration has ensured clearance of the snow covered roads since yesterday afternoon only and almost 70 percent of the roads have been cleared. Locals rescue tourists injured in Anantnag road accident, 8 injured

Suhail Dar A tourist cab met with an accident in the Khagund area of Verinag in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday afternoon a tourist cab skidded off the road in the Khagund area of the Anantnag district, resulting in injuries to eight people. He added that they were rescued by the locals of the area. The injured were shifted to the Qazigund hospital where two of them are stated to be critical. Meanwhile, the teams of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF have also reached the spot.

Amid cloud cover, minimum temperature recorded further increase in Kashmir Valley on Friday after snowfall.  Police rescue 52 tourists stranded after snowfall in Budgam

Police in Budgam rescued 52 tourists stuck in snow at Parihaas Doodhpathri in Budgam district. A police statement said that Police Station Khansahib received an information that some tourists were stuck at Parihaaas Doodhpathri while travelling in their vehicles due to sudden snowfall. Accordingly, a police party of Police Station Khansahib along with police personnel on guard duty at Tangnar Doodhpathri were deputed and subsequently all 52 tourists were rescued. “They were provided necessary assistance & help and were shifted to safe accommodations at Tangnar Budgam.
