Jammu encounter: Massive search operation launched to find missing driver, says Police

Four unidentified militants, travelling in a truck to Kashmir were killed in a “chance encounter” with a joint team of police and army in Sidhra area of Jammu on Wednesday, police said. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition including seven AK-47 rifles, one M-4 rifle, a pistol and 14 grenades were recovered, a police spokesperson said in a statement to GNS. A 75-year-old undertrial prisoner died on intervening Tuesday and Wednesday night in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said. They told GNS that one Mohammad Maqbool Khan, son of Abdul Gaffar Khan, resident of Kakroosa Villgam, already on medication, took seriously ill and was moved to SDH Kupwara, where he died shortly after. They said the individual was lodged in the district jail Kupwara since August 2022 in a case FIR number 61/2023, pertaining to Sections 306 and 109 of IPC.
