Six years on, overhead railway pass far from completion in Anantnag

After six years, the overhead railway pass on Srinagar- Jammu highway in Anantnag district is far from completion. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), due to unavailability of the overhead railway pass at Shoul Batengoo Anantnag, thousands of passengers suffer on the daily basis. The national highway-44 was thrown open for traffic in 2017 and the construction of an overhead railway pass was going on. But since then about six years have passed but it is nowhere near completion, said an official. The official said for the last many years no work has been carried out at the site due to which people are forced to use single lane there leading to traffic jams. Three injured as shed collapses in Kulgam

At least three persons were injured after a floriculture shed collapsed inside a park in south Kashmir's Kulgam on Tuesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a shed at Green Park Chawalagam collapsed suddenly, resulting in injuries to three persons who were sitting there. The injured identified as Umair Ashraf, Aahil Ahmad and Fasial Yousuf—all residents of Chawalgam Kulgam. He said they were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Bhat Yasir The Police in Baramulla district have arrested thirteen drug peddlers in ten FIRs registered in January–the first month of the year 2023. A top official said that the total recovery in the month of January include 3 kilograms of Poppy straw, 664 grams of Charas, 700 grams of Charas powder, 23 Kilograms of Bhung Powder, 1.2 kilograms of Bhung, 25 grams of Brown sugar, and 177 grams of heroin. He said that 10 total drug-related FIRs were registered in the district this month. Additionally, 13 drug peddlers were arrested. He further said that a vehicle was also seized by the police. Senior TV journalist and news presenter, Nidhi Razdan is the latest addition to the series of journalists that quit the news network NDTV after the Adani Takeover. "After more than 22 years, it is time to move on from NDTV. It has been a wonderful, roller coaster ride but you have to know when to get off. The next couple of weeks is my last. Thank you for the love and support all these years," Nidhi Razdan wrote on her Twitter. Earlier on January 28, senior journalist Sreenivasan Jain ended his 28-year-long association with NDTV. Journalist Ravish Kumar and NDTV Group president Suparna Singh are among others who quit. NDTV founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy also left the company’s board in December 2022.

The traffic movement on Srinagar-Jammu national highway resumed partially, which was suspended on Monday due to landslides, shooting stones and snowfall, officials said here on Tuesday.
