A court in Gujarat while sentencing a youth to life imprisonment for illegally transporting cattle from Maharashtra, noted that all of earth's problems will be solved if cow slaughter is prevented. According to Bar and Bench, in an order passed in November, Principal District Judge Samir Vinodchandra Vyas paid tribute to the importance of cows to the entire Universe. The District Administration Anantnag has removed encroachment on more than 4200 kanals of state/ kahcharai land in the last three days, totaling more than 40000 kanals of land retrieved so far from encroachers in the district. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom said that encroached lands in various tehsils have been identified and the anti-encroachment drive shall continue in full force. He said that focus is on retrieving large chunks of encroached land which can subsequently be utilized for public purposes. On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, a team of officers headed by Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kulgam, Mohammad Imran inspected several offices of Rural Development Department in Kulgam. During the inspection, 11 employees were found unauthorizedly absent from their duties and were placed under suspension with immediate effect vide order No12-ACDK of 023. Moreover, ACD stressed on cent percent attendance at all offices of Rural Development Department Kulgam and directed all employees to attend their duties regularly.
