In MP, Muslim youth assaulted for talking to Hindu girl

A Muslim college student in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, was slapped and assaulted with sticks by a Hindutva group for conversing with a Hindu female who is his friend from the same college. The computer science master’s student was conversing with a friend about studies and books when a group of Hindutva activists pulled him away and thrashed him severely with sticks. Although the student, Shehbaz, filed a complaint against the assailants, no one has been detained as of yet. A journalist from Madhya Pradesh named Kashif Kakvi claimed that the attackers belonged to Hindu Jagran Munch. Additionally, the attackers pressured the girl’s family to accuse Shahbaz of molestation.

In the past five years, Jammu Kashmir has recorded a hike of five percent in taking paid private tuitions by the students of classes 1st to 8th standard. Atleast five persons were injured in twin mysterious blast in Narwal area of Jammu on Saturday. A senior police officer told GNS that the blasts were reported from two vehicles, leading to injuries to five persons. The injured have been evacuated to nearby hospital. British police issued Prime Minister Rishi Sunak with a fine for riding in a car without wearing his seat belt in order to film a clip for social media. Sunak, who apologized on Thursday for what he called a “brief error of judgement”, filmed a video in the back seat of his car while travelling in the north of England, without wearing a seat belt. “Following the circulation of a video on social media showing an individual failing to wear a seat belt while a passenger in a moving car in Lancashire we have today issued a 42-year-old man from London with a conditional offer of fixed penalty,” Lancashire Police said on Twitter.

Flights delayed at Srinagar airport due to fresh snowfall

All flights at the Srinagar Airport are delayed due to low visibility after fresh snowfall on Saturday morning. Airport authorities said that flights have been delayed due to inclement weather. They said that operations will commence once the weather improves. Farooq Ahmed, a Delhi-bound passenger told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the Air Asia flight that was scheduled to leave for Delhi early morning has been delayed, and now it is being informed that it will hit the sky at around 2:30, in case the weather improves. There are hundreds of passengers stranded at the Airport due to delayed flights. Notably, parts of Kashmir Valley experienced light rainfall and snowfall. [KNT]

38-year- old Anantnag man dies of cardiac arrest

Sheikh Nadeem A 38-year-old man died after he suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday early morning in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the 38 year old man fell unconscious at home after which be was immediately rushed to District Hospital Anantnag for treatment where doctors decalred him dead on arrival. According to an Hospital official the person was brought dead to the hospital after having suffered cardiopulmonary arrest. “He has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir alias Nazir Ashiq (38), Son of Ghulam Nabi Mir a resident of Palpora Dailgam,” officials told The Kashmiriyat. Pertinently twelve people have died after having suffered a cardiac arrested in Kashmir during the last week.

Complying with the order of the Jammu Kashmir administration, the officials have prepared a list of the patches of state land in the Kulgam district of south Kashmir. The Kashmiriyat has learned that a total of 9597 patches of land registered under various Khasra numbers have been listed under various state land categories of the state land in the south Kashmir region out of which 5295 patches of land have been "encroached" upon while 4284 patches of land are vacant. JKDMA issues avalanche warning in 10 J-K districts

Jammu Kashmir Disaster Management Authority has issued an avalanche warning for at least ten districts for the next 24 hours. The JKDMA, as per GNS, has cautioned that an avalanche with a ‘Low’ Danger Level is likely to occur above 2,500 meters over Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Kupwara district and areas above 2,000 meters in Kulgam and Anantnag districts. Similarly, the Disaster Manager Authority has expressed its apprehension of a ‘Medium’ Danger Level above 2,500 meters over the Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, and Ramban districts. People living in the notified areas have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing into avalanche-prone areas._ (GNS)
