PDD engineer dies of cardiac arrest in Kulgam

An assistant executive engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD) died of a cardiac arrest on Wednesday, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that AEE Mohammad Ayoub of Bon Dailgam area of Anantnag died when he was on his way to attend to his duty in Yaripora. He said Ayoub was posted as AEE at sub-division Yaripora in Kulgam district. “He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival,” the official said—(KNO)

Officials in Kashmir issue notices asking ‘occupants’ to vacate state land

Officials in Kreeri Baramulla in north Kashmir have called for the vacation of state land within three days. A notice issued in Urdu by the concerned Tehsildar warned the "occupants" of the state land to vacate the land within three days. "Otherwise we will be forced to initiate action against the occupants," the notice accessed by The Kashmiriyat read. To control the price of mutton, authorities have sealed over 117 mutton shops for the past two weeks in Kashmir capital Srinagar. People associated with the mutton trade are up in arms against the Directorate of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution. Authorities have fixed the price of meat at Rs 535 per kg in 2021, however, Assistant Director Enforcement, Mushtaq Ahmed Wani told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that complaints were being received that the butchers were selling meat at Rs 600 to Rs 650. On Wednesday a new-born baby was found abandoned in sub-district hospital Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district even as police have registered a case in this regard. The freezing conditions intensified further in Kashmir valley with the minimum temperature plunging to minus 4.3°C in Srinagar while Qazigund recorded its coldest night so far this season at minus 7.4°C on Wednesday.
