Free ‘state land’ within 3 days or face action: Authorities tell Uri, Boniyar residents

In pursuance of the JK admin's order to clear the state land before January 31, officials in Baramulla have issued an ultimatum of three days to the local residents of Uri to vacate the land in three days. In an official notice, of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat,  the officials in Uri and Boniyar areas of the north Kashmir's Baramulla district asked the people to vacate the state land within three days or else action would be taken against them. The Jammu Kashmir admin has asked the revenue officials and the deputy commissioners to ensure all the state land, Roshni land is freed of "encroachers" by January 31. Gujarat government demolished six madrasas in Kutch

The Gujarat government ran bulldozers over  36 commercial establishments and 6 madrasas in Kutch area of the state. The bulldozers came into action in the border coastal area action plan, Muslim Mirror reported. During the Gujarat assembly election campaign in November, BJP workers in Surat campaigned on JCB (bulldozers). The event took place when the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh was on his way to the election campaign in the state. Notably, the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also known as Bulldozer Baba as he has used bulldozers on 'illegal constructions' of criminals in the state. During the election campaign, BJP had boasted about using bulldozers against criminals and illegal encroachers in Gujarat too.

Around 1,666 incidents of human-animal conflict were reported in 2022 while 13 also lost their lives and 106 were injured as frequency of man-animal conflict has increased in the recent years perhaps due to people moving closer to forests and animals coming out into residential areas. According to data accessed by Kashmir News Service (KNS) the Wildlife Department has also rescued and released around 668 wild animals that strayed into villages, towns and cities across the Valley in 2022. Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district arrested four persons after recovering brown sugar from their possession. Police made these arrests during routine checking at main chowk Khanabal falling under the jurisdiction of police station Anantnag. The 1.5 kg brown sugar-like substance was hidden in an Alto vehicle being used by the accused men, three among them hail from Deva Coloney Jangalat Mandi Anantnag while one is a resident of Brazloo, Yaripora Kulgam. This was decided by the Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta in a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries (CoS) Monday attended by all the Administrative Secretaries. Complying with the orders of the administration, the Tehsildar (revenue official) of Bhaderwah district in Chenab valley has ordered the removal of "encroachments" from state/ Roshni/Kahcharai Land by 31 January 2023. An official notice, of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat, a total of 3047 Kanal and 15 Marla is yet to be freed. " Whereas, in respect of Tehsil Bhaderwah, the encroached State Land measuring 1870 Kanal 07 Marla and Roshni Land 1176 Kanal 08 Marla," the official notice read.
