The Jammu Kashmir Police have registered 1021 NDPS cases, arrested 1685 drug peddlers including 138 notorious drug peddlers who have been detained under PIT NDPS Act during the previous year 2022 in the Kashmir valley. In 2022, average of seven fire incidents reported daily in Kashmir, 37 dead, 1,700 structures damaged

The Kashmir valley witnessed a rise of over 30 per cent in the total number of fire incidents recorded in the year 2022 against the year 2020. According to official figures in 2020, 1900 fire incidents were reported around the Kashmir valley while in 2022, 2500 fire incidents were recorded in Kashmir valley from January 01 to December 31. During these fire incidents, a total of 1700 structures were damaged and 37 persons lost their lives. Officials seal five restaurants in KP road Anantnag for ‘overcharging’

Suhail Dar The Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution sealed five restaurants in Anantnag after the restaurants were found "heavily" overcharging customers. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, an official of the CAPD said that on Monday morning, five restaurants were sealed on the KP road street of the south Kashmir township after they were found overcharging from customers. The officials said that the Department had received several complaints against the restaurants for overcharging in the recent past. The residents of Mehjoor Nagar in Srinagar staged a protest against the curtailment of ration supplies to the Kashmir valley. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning, people hit to roads in the Mehjoor Nagar area of Srinagar and blocked the traffic raising slogans demanding ration. Renowned Kashmiri poet Rehman Rahi is no more

Renowned Kashmiri poet, Professor Rehman Rahi passed away on Monday morning at his Vicharnag residence in Srinagar. The 1925-born poet was presented with the 40th Jnanpith Award as an eminent Kashmiri poet, on November 6, 2008, by the then Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. In the year 1948, Rehman Rahi started his career as a PWD and later worked as a Sub-editor with Khidmat newspaper for several years. In 1952 he did his masters in Persian and a decade later another master's in English. For most of his career, he taught at the University of Kashmir.
