Night temperature rises further at most places amid snowfall forecast in Kashmir

The minimum temperature recorded a further increase at most places on Sunday as Kashmir braces for snowfall in next 48 hours. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 0.1°C against last night’s minus 1.4°C. Today’s minimum temperature was 1.8°C above normal, he said. Teenage girl allegedly commits suicide in Srinagar, 3rd case in less than four days

A 14-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in a rented house in Srinagar outskirts. Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that a teenage girl from Kargil (name withheld) who was currently residing in the Illahi Bagh Buchpora area at a rented house hung herself. She was immediately shifted to SKIMS Soura where doctors declared her dead. Police in this regard has registered a case under relevant sections of law. A 26-year-old youth from Kulgam district of south Kashmir, who was pursuing PhD in Chemistry, died of a cardiac arrest in Mysore University while the family appealed to the authorities to help them in bringing their son’s body. At least 18 suspects have been detained for questioning in connection with a recent terror attack at Dhangri village in Jammu Kashmir’s Rajouri district that left six civilians dead, officials said on Saturday. The erring traders were taken to task during the special drive launched in various areas of Srinagar City from 30 December, 2022 to 07 January, 2023.
