Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Athar Amir Khan on Friday said that around 80 percent work has been completed on dog sterilisation facility in Tengpora area of Srinagar. Israel builds 4.6 km wall around Gaza Strip

Israel has started building a 4.6-km-long wall around the Gaza Strip to protect Israeli communities in its vicinity from fire from the coastal Palestinian enclave, the Defence Ministry here said. “Work has begun on a security corridor project adjacent to the Gaza Strip, with the aim of concealing roads to allow residents to drive around safely in times of emergency without fear of counterfire from the Gaza Strip,” Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry as saying in a statement on Thursday. 180 quintals of fertiliser seized in Kulgam, accused arrested

The Enforcement Wing of Agriculture Department has seized around 180 quintals of non-permissible fertiliser in south Kashmir's Kulgam district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that after 19 hours of searches by the enforcement wing the accused was caught along with truck at Laroo Bypass in Kulgam. He said the truck was moving from Gujrat to Kulgam in a suspicious manner. “From Qazigund tunnel we followed the truck and after 19 hours the driver was arrested and vehicle was also seized. Mercury rises slightly as cold conditions continue in Kashmir

Severe cold conditions continued in Kashmir Valley even as there was slight rise in the minimum temperature on Friday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 5.5°C against last night’s minus 6.4°C that was coldest for the season so far. Today’s minimum temperature was 3.6°C below normal. Qazigund recorded a low of minus 5.6°C against minus 6.2°C, the lowest recorded this season for the gateway town of Kashmir. The Ministry of Home Affairs' (MHA) decision to declare 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) as a "terrorist" organisation will be followed by a crackdown planned by the government to wipe out the outfit and its cadre responsible for issuing threat lists, reported IANS. The Resistance Front is is an offshoot of the Laskar-e-Taiba (LeT), based in Pakistan. PG degrees obtained via distance mode in Science Stream not valid for seniority: DSEK

The School Education Department has said that Post Graduate degrees obtained through distance mode by RRT teachers in Scienee Stream would not be considered valid for seniority and promotion purposes. An official document accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads the PG degrees through distance mode cannot be considered valid. DSEK said this while responding to application of an RRT teacher seeking permission for pursuing PG in Environmental Science through IGNOU. “In this context, it is to inform that the Administrative Department has conveyed that the degrees obtained through distance mode in Scienee Stream (Environmental Science) cannot be considered valid for the purposes of seniority and promotion,” reads the document—(KNO)
