The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested six drug peddlers in Shopian district of south Kashmir. A Police spokesman said that six drug peddlers identified as Javaid Ahmed Ganie, Suhail Ahmed Allie, Yawar Ahmed Mir, all residents of Melhora in Shopian and Azad Ahmed Ganaie of Dablipora, Shabir Ahmed Teeli and Imtiyaz Ahmed of Wondina Zainapora were arrested with contraband substance. He said that the six have been booked under PIT NDPS and have been lodged at Kotbal Balwal Jammu.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will send additional 18 companies to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of recent killings of civilians in two fresh terror attacks in Rajouri district, sources familiar with the development said. The 18 CRPF companies - approximately 1,800 personnel - will be rushed to the Jammu region for deployment mainly in Poonch and Rajouri districts. As per inputs, eight CRPF companies will be deployed very soon from nearby locations of deployment in Jammu and Kashmir while 10 CRPF companies are being rushed from Delhi. A mother-son duo was killed while two other members of the family were injured in a road accident on the Jammu Poonch National Highway. An official told The Kashmir News Apax that an Alto car in which four members of a family were going on collided with a bus on the highway in Bagnoti area of Rajouri district, resulting in the death of Saima Kausar(26) and her 04 months old son Danish . Kausar's husband Mohammad Anees(30) and their son Moheez Ahmad (04) were injured. They all are residents of Mughal Manjakot District Rajouri. The Madhya Pradesh government has asked hundreds of residents to leave Ujjain’s Gulmohar colony as the city in view of the Kumbh Mela that is scheduled to be hosted in the city in 2028.
