The minimum temperature plummeted across Kashmir Valley with Gulmarg and Pahalgam recording season’s coldest night at minus 10.0°C and 9.6°C respectively on Monday. A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 5.4°C against last night’s 0.5°C. The temperature was 3.3°C below normal for the summer capital, the official said. Srinagar has so far seen the coldest temperature this season on December 25 when mercury plummeted to minus 5.8°C. Qazigund recorded a low of minus 5.8°C against 0.3°C on the previous night. Computers, office record and other paraphernalia has been partially damaged in a fire incident at Tehsil office Qaimoh in Kulgam district, officials said. They said that a fire broke out in a structure housing Tehsil office, following which several fire tenders reached the spot to bring the blaze under control. After hectic efforts the fire was contained but not before the flames damaging the some office record besides few computers and other accessories at the office. (GNS)

Officials said that a lady, who was injured after being hit by an unknown vehicle in Sopore outskirts yesterday, succumbed to her injuries at Srinagar hospital on Sunday morning. An official told the Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a lady in her 40's identified as Rafeeqa, wife of Manzoor Ahmed of Alsafa Colony in Sopore was hit by an unknown vehicle on Saturday, following which she was subsequently taken to Sopore hospital. The lady was discharged from the SDH Sopore. However, after complications at home, the lady was taken to GMC Baramulla, where from she was referred to Srinagar hospital, he said. Three persons, who were among 13 injured in a firing incident in Dangri village of Rajouri district on Sunday evening, have succumbed to their injuries at GmC Rajouri, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a firing incident was reported in Dangri village this eveving, creating panic and chaos in the area. He said in the incident 13 persons were injured and they were rushed to GMC Rajouri for treatment. At least six persons were injured in a firing incident in Dangri village of Rajouri district on Sunday evening, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a firing incident was reported in Dangri village this eveving, creating panic and chaos in the area. He said in the incident six persons have been injured of whom few are reported to be critical and they have been rushed to GMC Rajouri for treatment. The official said the area is around 7 to 8 kilometres away from main Rajouri town, while police and army have rushed to the spot. A civilian was injured after unknown persons suspected to be militants hurled a grenade on CRPF Bunker near Hawal Chowk in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Sunday evening. A senior police officer told GNS that militants lobbed grenade towards CRPF Bunker of 28 BN near Hawal Chowk. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on roadside. In this incident one civilian namely Sameer Ahmed Malla son of Manzoor Ahmed Malla resident of Habak recieved minor splinter injury, he was immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment, the officer added.
