Proposal to withdraw Indian army from residential areas in Kashmir being discussed in ‘advanced stage’: report

A proposal to remove the Indian Army from the Valley hinterland is currently being discussed, The Indian Express reported. The Army will only be present along the Line of Control (LoC) if approved. According to representatives of the security establishment, the proposal to remove the Army from the hinterland of Kashmir has been discussed for about two years and is currently in an "advanced stage" with the participation of the J-K police, the armed forces, the Union Ministry of Defence, and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Banihal youth dies in Kulgam road accident

A youth died after a vehicle he was travelling in met with an accident at Shamsipora railway crossing in south Kashmir's Kulgam district. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday evening, a youth identified as Aqib Mehmood son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Bankoot Banihal, traveling in his own vehicle bearing the number JK06-2337 from Srinagar towards Jammu met with an accident at Shamsipora railway. Aqib was shifted to District hospital Anantnag for treatment in critical condition, however, he was declared brought dead by the doctors, he said, they said.

Several houses and a cowshed were damaged after a massive landslide took place in the Rezan area of Sonamarg in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district.
