Sopore locality residents fume over receiving ‘exorbitant’ power bills

On Friday, the residents of Krankshivan Colony in the Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district complained of receiving exorbitant bills for January. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the residents alleged that they were shocked after receiving bills ranging over Rs 5,000 for the month of January as against the Rs 1,000, they used to pay. They alleged the bills generated by the concerned department were not as per meter readings and that the matter be looked into at the earliest. They said the issue has not been resolved despite repeated requests to the concerned officials. Two militants of ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) were arrested by Police, officials said on Friday. In a tweet, police identified the duo as Zubair Gul son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Zoonimar (Category C) and Mohammad Hamza Wali son of Mohammad Yousuf of Safakadal (hybrid). “They were involved in many incidents in Srinagar,” police said as per GNS. “Pistol, grenade etc recovered. The Union Home Ministry on Friday declared “Jammu & Kashmir Ghaznavi Force” as a “terrorist organization” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act-1967.
