One more militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter in Awantipora area of Pulwam district, taking the toll to 3 including a soldier, police said here on Tuesday. Kashmir zone police, in a Tweet, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said one more militants has been killed while search operation was going on. One militant has been killed and two army troopers have been injured in an ongoing encounter at Padgampora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday government forces including RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the Padgampora area. The operation was launched following an input about militant movement in the area, they said. During the cordon and search operation, the hiding militants opened fire during which two army troopers were injured. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a youth identified as Umran son of Mohammed Hussain Bhat, resident of Kulgam was found lying unconscious at his residence in Nanibugh. The 17-year-old was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival. An official told The Kashmiriyat a 13-year-old girl (name withheld) was raped by her brother-in-law in the Shopian district, following which the relatives of the minor girl registered a complaint with the Police. In their complaint, the family alleged that the minor girl was impregnated by her sister's husband who later planned to kill the newborn after the delivery. Upon receiving the complaint, the Police arrested the accused who has been booked under the relevant sections of the law, he said. "The police took swift action and arrested the accused. The investigation is going on, the other accused, if found, will be arrested soon," a senior police officer from Shopian said.

One Kashmiri pilgrim died yesterday evening while on a pilgrimage in Karbala in Iraq. The deceased has been identified as Syed Muhammad Shafi Rizvi of the Bota Kadal area of the Srinagar district. A family member told The Kashmiriyat that Shafi had been sick before he left for the holy pilgrimage to Karbala. "We insisted that he should not go with such health, but he refused to stop and went ahead to perform the pilgrimage," he said.
