Kashmir parts receive fresh snowfall, flights suspended at Srinagar airport

Amid fresh snowfall in the Kashmir Valley, the authorities have suspended flight operations at Srinagar International Airport due to low visibility. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director Srinagar Airport, Kuldeep Singh said all the flights scheduled so far have been delayed in view of fresh snowfall and low visibility He said the decision to resume flight operations will be taken after improvement in visibility and weather conditions. Lineman injured due to electric shock in Kulgam village

Danishwar Hameed A lineman, working as a daily wager in Power Development Department, on Friday suffered injuries due to an electric shock in the Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam. An official told The Kashmiriyat that the lineman identified as Muhammad Ramzan son of Ghulam Qadir of Manzgam sustained injuries after he came in contact with a live wire. He said he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where from he was referred to the SKIMS, Soura.

A Kashmiri cleric who was on Umrah at Saudi Arabia has been injured in a road accident, leading into critical injuries to him. A close associate of the cleric identified as Moulana Muzaffar Hussain Qasmi told The Kashmiriyat that the 45-year-old was on Umrah when he was hit by a vehicle resulting into critical injuries to him. He has been referred to the nearby hospital where his condition is stated to be critical, he said.

Mother-daughter duo rescued alive after being swept away by avalanche in Gurez

A woman and a girl were rescued alive after they were swept away by an avalanche that occurred in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district this morning, officials said. A police official told news agency GNS that a snow avalanche occurred at around 0940 hours near Mazgund Bala area of Tulail in Gurez and swept away a girl, Tabassum Banoo daughter of Mohammad Yousuf, and a woman, Shahnaz Begum wife of Zahoro Ahmad. Immediately locals launched a rescue operation and after strenuous efforts, he said, both of them were rescued alive. He said that people are advised not to go near avalanche prone areas. No vehicle to be allowed to enter High Court premises in Srinagar without valid pass

Citing security of the High Court of Jammu Kashmir, the authorities on Friday ordered that no vehicle will be allowed to enter the court premises without a valid parking pass. In an order, copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Registrar Judicial Srinagar said that the security in charge High Court will also ensure parking of the vehicles in the designated parking slots in the premises. On Friday, the Jammu Kashmir Board of School Education issued the date sheets for classes 10th to 12th in the Kashmir division. The exams for class 10th will commence on 09 March, 2023 and end on 5 April, 2023, as per the date sheet of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat. For class 11th the exams will begin on 06 March, 2023 for Science, Arts and Home science faculties while for commerce the exams will begin on 12 March 2023.
