Seven ‘stunt’ bikers detained by Police in Srinagar

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Monday said it detained seven stunt bikers from the Nishat area of Srinagar. On Monday morning, Police said, seven stunt bikers performing "dangerous" stunts in Srinagar were detained and four vehicles were seized from them. The bikers will be set free after proper counseling, Police said. The Jammu Kashmir Police has launched a campaign for road safety and arrested several stunt bikers in the past in view of the rising accidents in the region.

Leopard cub captured in Ganderbal village

A Leopard cub was captured in the Tangchatter area of Kangan in central Kashmir's Gandarbal district by the Wildlife Department on Monday morning, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the cub was captured after the department received information about its presence in the area. He said it was roaming in the residential areas, thereby posing a danger to people and their livestock. 18-year-old Ganderbal youth enters ‘India Book of Records’ for tech-innovation

The name of an 18-year-old has entered the ‘India Book of Records' for tech innovation, Greater Kashmir reported. Aqib Ahmad Shah, son of Muhammad Yaseen Shah of the Safapora neighborhood of Ganderbal, is a 12th-grade student at Government Higher Secondary School, Safapora. He invented a "seat belt ignition" for automobiles that will ensure public safety, especially for drivers, and reduce the number of unnecessary fatalities from collisions. Aqib is the first Kashmiri youth to have his or her name listed in the Innovation and Technology section of the "India Book of Records." The Ganderbal district administration also presented him with a certificate of appreciation for his efforts on Republic Day.

‘State-land’ evictions: Agitated locals confront bulldozers in Baramulla, Tehsildar injured

Angry locals in Chakloo area of Baramulla allegedly attacked a Tehsildar when the revenue officials demolished several structures during an anti-encroachment drive carried out by authorities on Saturday. Rains lashed most plains including Srinagar while some parts of the Kashmir Valley received fresh snowfall with Gulmarg receiving more than one foot of it since overnight, officials said here on Monday. Admin notifies 28 hotels allegedly built on state land for eviction in Sonmarg

The authorities have issued a list of hotels that have been raised illegally in the Sonamarg & Gagangir area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, which has created panic among the hoteliers at the central Kashmir health resort. India blocks 232 sites including 138 betting sites

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India has issued orders to block 232 apps operated by overseas entities, including Chinese for being involved in betting, gambling, and unauthorized loan service. “The order to block 138 apps that were involved in betting, gambling, and money laundering was issued last evening. Separately, an order to block 94 apps engaged in unauthorized loan service has also been issued. These apps were being operated by offshore entities, including Chinese.
