
Impassable roads in Kulgam: Pregnant woman brought to hospital on shoulders, births dead infant

A woman delivered a dead infant after she was carried on a stretcher for four kilometers from Hallan to Manzgam in south Kashmir's Kulgam district here on Saturday.
According to locals, the route from Manzgam to Hallan has been cleared of snow but is impassable to date.
A family member spoke to The Kashmiriyat and said that due to a lack of motorable roads, they took the expecting woman from Hallan village to Manzgam hospital on the shoulders day before.
“A pregnant lady, Sakeena Akhtar, wife of Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Hallan, was brought to the hospital on shoulders and she delivered a dead baby,” Mohammed Ishaq, a local said, adding that it took almost two hours to get to the hospital on foot.
