Another avalanche hits Gulmarg’s Afarwat, no casualties reported

Four days after an avalanche killed two Polish nationals, another avalanche hit the Afarwat Peak at famoud ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an avalanche hit the area today morning, however, no casualty has been reported in the incident. He said the area was already declared as Red Zone and as a precautionary measure teams have been sent to the spot. "Medical teams have been kept on standby near the avalanche area," he said. Weather department on Saturday forecast mainly dry weather for the next 24 hours in JK with very light rain and snow at one or two places of north Kashmir. A meteorological department official here told GNS that there was a possibility of scattered light rain and snow during the subsequent two days. Meanwhile, amid cloud cover, the minimum temperature saw an increase except at a few places with Srinagar recording a low of 0.4°C against minus 0.6°C on the previous night. Seven shops looted in Janglat Mandi market at Anantnag

Suhail Dar Burglars broke into seven shops in the Janglat Mandi area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday unknown persons broke out into seven shops located at the Janglat Mandi area of the main town in the Anantnag. He said that early morning as the shopkeepers reached their shops, they found their shops had been broken into and goods worth lakhs stolen from their shops. The shops looted include Waqar Medical Store, Tafheem Medical Store, Aadil Pharmacy, MM Medical store, GS Medical Store, Kadoo Pharmacy, and Abdullah Bakery Shop, he saidm The police, as per locals, has sealed the area and is monitoring the situation and also taking stock of the losses incurred by the shopkeepers.

Govt teacher suspended over allegations of sexual harassment against students in Srinagar

Amul milk prices hiked by 2 rupees/ litre

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets its dairy products under the brand name ‘Amul’, on Friday increased the prices of milk by Rs 2 per litre for all markets except Gujarat. Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of the Anand-headquartered federation, said the hike in milk prices is not applicable to Gujarat. “We have increased the milk prices by Rs 2 per litre for markets other than Gujarat, such as Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. As of now, there is no increase in milk prices in Gujarat,” he said. The new prices are effective from Friday morning, the GCMMF said in a statement issued by its Mumbai office.
