Three government employees terminated for alleged militancy links

The Jammu Kashmir administration has terminated three of its employees under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India, over alleged militancy links. The terminated staffers have been identified as Syed Saleem Andrabi, Syed Hameed Yatoo, Arif Sheikh dismissed from services for militancy links in Jammu Kashmir. As per reports received by The Kashmiriyat,  Mohammed Arif Sheikh is posted as a teacher in Government Middle School, Pagihalla, Reasi while Itoo is a Junior Engineer (Public Works Department) in PMGSY, and Syed Saleem Andrabi is working in the Social Welfare Department at Tehsil Handwara. Kashmiri Journalists demand extension of date for submission of ‘accreditation’ form

Scores of senior journalists and those running wire services have appealed to the Director of Information and Public Relations to extend the date for the submission of the accreditation form. The last date for the submission of forms is February 27. Some Journalists told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that there were some official holidays as a result they were unable to fulfill the required formalities. Jammu Kashmir Police along with Army on Sunday recovered a huge quantity of high-valued narcotics and arrested three smugglers believed to be running a cross-LoC narcotics peddling racket in the district. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an operation was launched jointly by Army and police in Poonch and three narcotics peddlers have been intercepted. The trio was running a cross-LoC smuggling racket, said officials. Around three kilograms of high-valued narcotics worth crores have been recovered so far in Noorkote village on LoC in the Poonch sector, officials said. The twin bus stands, shifted recently in south Kashmir's Kulgam district to ease traffic congestion and streamline smooth traffic flow, lack basic amenities, leaving passengers, commuters and drivers irked. The weather was dry in JK during the last 24 hours. The MeT office said on Sunday that scattered to fairly widespread light rain/snow is likely in the coming day. "Scattered to fairly widespread light rain/snow is likely in J&K during the next 24 hours," an official of the MeT department said. Srinagar had 7.3, Pahalgam 3.2 and Gulmarg minus 1.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature today. In Ladakh region, Drass town had minus 10.1, Kargil minus 8.2 and Leh minus 6.6 as the minimum temperature. Jammu had 12.5, Katra 13.1, Batote 9, Banihal 7.4 and Bhaderwah 5.5 as the minimum temperature.

Bank guard injured in suspected militant attack in Pulwama succumbs

A Bank Security Guard who was earlier injured after being shot at by unknown gunmen at Achan area of Litter hamlet in South Kashmir's Pulwama district has succumbed to his injuries. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that militants fired upon a bank security guard in which he received injuries. He was immediately shifted to district hospital Pulwama for treatment where he was declared dead. Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, Pulwama, Dr Tula confirmed to KNO that the man was brought dead to the hospital. Suspected militants on Sunday morning shot at a man in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a bank guard identified as Sanjay son of Dina Nath was shot at by militants in the Achan area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir. Sanjay was shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the Government forces rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to nab the attackers.

Authorities in Jammu Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday put off an eviction drive in a forest area after its dwellers aired their grievances. Notices to vacate land were issued to the forest dwellers in Nagra’s area of Qazigund in south Kashmir by the forest department officials a few days ago.
