Temperature drops below normal in twin capitals, dry weather forecast in JK

The minimum temperature dropped on Thursday below normal in twin capitals and Pahalgam even as the weather department forecast mainly clear to partly cloudy weather at most places in the next few days in Jammu Kashmir. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 0.6°C against the previous night’s 3.7°C. Today’s minimum temperature, he said, was ‘below’ normal by 0.3°C for the summer capital. Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 0.0°C against minus 0.2°C on the previous night and it was 0.1°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir. A man was injured in a mysterious blast in Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man was digging earth at his orchard in Warpora when the blast took place. He said that the man was injured in the incident and was immediately shifted to a nearby health facility, where from he was referred to Srinagar. A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at the Sher e Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Officials said on Wednesday. An official said that a minor girl (name with held) was sexually assaulted by a mid-aged man identified as Mohammed Ashraf Lone, a resident of Pulwama. A private school building was damaged partially in a fire mishap in Dardpora Lolab area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Reports said that a school building ‘Al-Falah Public School’ caught fire this morning, following which fire and emergency department reached the site.
