As the Jammu Kashmir Board exams for classes 10 to 12 are scheduled to commence from March 3, the students of Khaipora, Tangmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district are concerned about the examination centers which, as per them, have been set up 12 kilometers away from the village. Body of a man with throat slit was found at the roof top of his house in Kullan Gund village of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police said here on Wednesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that body of one Mohammad Shaban Najar (50) was found at the roof top of his house. He said soon after the incident a police party rushed to the spot. “Body was later shifted to Kangan for postmortem,” he said. The 294-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed since last night due to landslides and shooting stones in Ramban district, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded on the highway, officials said on Tuesday. Amid the forecast for mainly dry weather in Jammu Kashmir, night temperature recorded dropped below sub-zero at a few places but hovered above normal except in Qazigund on Wednesday, officials said. The Jammu Kashmir administration on Tuesday ordered the enhancement of minimum wages of daily rated workers including casual labourers as per the revised minimum rate of wages notified by the Labour and Employment Department. Burglars loot mobile phone shop in Kulgam town

Danishwar Hameed Burglars struck at a shop in the main market of south Kashmir's Kulgam town and looted goods worth lakhs of rupees. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that during the intervening night, unknown burglars stormed into a mobile shop (Synotek) in main market Kulgam and stole mobile phones along with accessories worth lakhs of rupees. "The thieves looted away dozens of mobile phones and accessories including memory cards, chargers and batteries," they said. The added that four shops have been looted in the locality very recently. Meanwhile, the shopkeepers association appealed the district administration to take strict action aginst the culprits and put them behind the bars as soon as possible.
