The former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed anguish over the "locking of Jamia Masjid" in Srinagar. In a tweet, she said, "Locking up Jama Masjid on the auspicious occasion of Shab e Barat is a brazen violation of fundamental rights & religious freedom guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. A mosque in Aligarh has been covered with tarpaulin before the festival of Holi, in order to ensure it is not smeared with colour. The police administration ensures this to maintain peace and order. The Abdul Karim Masjid at Aligarh’s most sensitive crossroad the ‘Halwaiyan’ is covered with a tarpaulin at night so that hoodlums do not smear the mosque with colours during Holi. This has been the practice since the past few years. Landslide forces closure of Jammu Srinagar highway, 1 dead 6 injured

A man died while several others were injured after a massive landslide occurred on Srinagar-Jammu national highway near Seri area of Ramban district on Tuesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) a massive landslide occurred near Seri area today afternoon, burying two vehicles under the debris. He said in the incident one person died while six others were injured and they were being shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The official said more people might be trapped under debris even as rescue operation was going on in the area. The deceased has been identified as Surjeet Singh son of Sher Singh of Sumber.
