Two renowned spiritual figures from Handwara pass away

The death of two renowned personalities from the Handwara town of Kupwara district is being widely mourned by locals of the north Kashmir area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that two spiritual figures, Ghulam Rasool Sheikh and Peer Ghulam Mohi-ud-din passed away in their native town creating a massive vacuum among thousands of their followers. Peer Ghulam Mohi-ud-din, a resident of Kalipora in Handwara passed away late Saturday night at his residence after suffering a heart attack. Peer Mohi-ud-din was a famous saint and has a huge following in Handwara. Ghulam Rasool Sheikh who passed away last week was renowned among the locals who said that he was highly knowledgeable in his field of spirituality and had followers across Jammu Kashmir. Amid forecast for mainly dry weather in the next 24 hours, the minimum temperatures recorded a drop in Jammu Kashmir with mercury settling below sub-zero level in Pahalgam and Gulmarg on Monday. The Jammu Kashmir Police have arrested a group of youths accused of harassing and attacking a family traveling in a car near Srinagar’s Parimpora road. Earlier, a video had gone viral on social media showing a family being harassed by several stunt bikers who were kicking the car and forcing some people to come out of the car while women in the car could be heard crying and seeking help. India on Sunday launched its heaviest rocket, Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3 or GSLV Mark 3), which successfully placed 36 satellites into orbit, the country's Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced. “All 36 OneWeb Gen-1 satellites injected into the intended orbits. In its 6th consecutive successful flight, LVM3 carried 5805 kgs (12,798 pounds) of payload to Low Earth Orbit,” the agency wrote on Twitter, calling the mission "accomplished." Regional Transport authorities have urged the general public not to hire any private vehicles as taxis or enter into any commercial contract in this regard. The move comes after the Regional Transport authorities said it received multiple complaints regarding the use of private vehicles as taxis by the general public as well as government offices. The RTO Kashmir on March 24 issued a public notice, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), which asks the general public, all government departments, PSUs, banks, educational institutions and individuals neither to hire any private vehicles as a taxi nor enter into any commercial contract.
