60-year-old man sentenced to 3 years in prison for sexual assault of 11-year-old girl in Srinagar

A fast track court in Srinagar sentenced an elderly man to three years in prison after being convicted in a sexual assault case involving an 11-year-minor girl. The case dates back to 2019, reported Kashmir Life. A special Fast Track court in Srinagar presided over by Judge Aarti Mohan; dealing with cases registered under POSCO Act sentenced a man to imprisonment of three years along with a fine of Rs. 50000 under section 7/8 of POCSO Act. An FIR No.52 /2019 i  this regard was registered at Kursoo Rajbagh police station Srinagar in 2019. Conductor dies, driver injured as truck hits electric pole in Srinagar

A truck conductor died while driver was injured after the vehicle hit an electric pole in Shalteng area of Srinagar on Saturday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a truck hit an electrical pole at Shalteng chowk due to which its conductor received an electric shock. He said that conductor was shifted to JVC hospital where doctor him declared dead on arrival. “The condition of the driver is said to be stable”. He has been identified as Kala, a resident of Punjab. Editor of the platform, Smita Prakash took to Twitter from her personal handle announcing that twitter had locked the account of the news agency. Two army troopers dead in road accident near LoC

Two soldiers were killed when a army vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident near Line of Control in Rajouri district on Saturday. Official sources told GNS that the vehicle skidded off the road and fell about 200-ft down into a gorge near Dungannon Nallah. Two soldiers suffered critical injuries and were shifted to army hospital Rajouri were they succumbed to injuries. An irrigation canal passing through Darbagh (Shopian district) and ZahidBagh (Pulwama district) has been turned into the dumping site and authorities are unmoved. Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that in 2014 floods a siphon bridge through which the water was reaching to agricultural fields got damaged and since then canal is without water. In May 2020, a pipeline was laid through to divert water of the canal to river Ranbiara, however, pipes were so narrow that just few drops of water were passed through these pipes and it worked for just a few days.
