Four houses damaged in blaze at Alamgari Bazar

At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Alamgari Bazar in summer capital Srinagar, officials said. They told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that fire broke out from a residential house belonging to Parvaiz Ahmad Mir, which later spread to three more residential houses belonging to Zaffar Ahmad Malla, Dilawar Hussain Malla and Ghulam Mohammad Dar. In this mishap, four residential houses were damaged. Firefighters douse the flames on time to avoid any further damage. However, there was no loss of life or injury. The cause of fire was not known immediately, however, Police have taken cognizance of the incident. (KDC)

Weatherman on Sunday forecast mainly dry weather with possibility of “isolated thundery development" towards afternoon in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that mainly dry weather was expected till April 16 while generally cloudy sky with possibility of light rain was likely for three days thereafter. Moments ahead of Iftar, Kulgam man dies in road accident

Danishwar Hameed  A man died while two others were injured in a road accident in Khur Batpora area in south Kashmir's Kulgam district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday evening a speedy vehicle rammed into a two wheeler in the Kulgam area causing injuries to three persons. They said that the injured were shifted to nearby hospital where two were referred to SKIMS Soura. “one of them identified as Mohammed Rafiq Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital," they said. Meanwhile officials identified the injured as  Bashir Ahmed Ganie, Mushtaq Ahmed Malik son of Ghulam Qadir Malik, all residents of Khur Batapora in Kulgam. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.

The two persons believed to be running the prostitution racket in the Bagh e Mehtab area of Srinagar have been booked under the Public Safety Act, Police said. Last week, Jammu Kashmir Police busted a prostitution racket in the Srinagar area and arrested two women and four women which included two customers as well. Locals of the area appreciating the job of the Police demanded a stringent action against the accused and also sought punishment to the house owner. Days later, Jammu Kashmir Police arrested the house owner and booked him under the relevant sections of law. The School Education Department Friday said that there shall be no carrying of bag for the students of classes upto the preschool. It also said that the weight of school bags for students of classes I and II shall not have more than 1.5 KGs. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has said, “The weight of the school bags as per the policy should be 1.5Kg for students of Classes I and II, 3Kg for Classes Ill and IV.” The circular issued by the DSEK reads that the weight of school bags for classes VI and VII shall be 4Kgs and 5KGs for classes VIII and IX followed by 5.5 KGs for class X. Meer Irfan An education officer allegedly assaulted a gatekeeper in a private school in the Zainapora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, a claim denied by officials.
