Unemployment in Jammu Kashmir shows spike of 6 percent in march

The unemployment rate in Jammu Kashmir has recorded a spike of over 6 percent for the month of March against February, which is the third highest in states and UTs across India. Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), monitoring monthly unemployment in India, has put Jammu Kashmir's employment rate at 23.1 percent in the month of March against 17.1 in February. The monthly figures of the unemployment rate maintained by CMIE since 2016 show that in August 2022, unemployment reached its highest over the years when it jumped to 32.8 percent. In the month of December, unemployment went down to 14.8 per cent against the 22.4 per cent unemployment rate in November. Tens of thousands of muslims thronged the Khanqah of  revered Kashmiri Sufi saint, Sakhi Zainuddin Wali (RA) at Aishmuqam in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir and performed the annual ‘Zool’ ritual. The Centre on Wednesday said that 185 persons from outside Jammu and Kashmir have bought land in JK during 2020, 2021 and 2022. Two militants, who were involved in grenade throwing incident on a wine shop in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on May 17 last year, have fled from the police custody, officials said on Wednesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two LeT militants identified as Maroof Nazir and Shahid Showkat, who were arrested on May 19 last year, fled from Baramulla police station today morning.
