Danishwar Hameed A man from Kulgam died in a road accident in Ramban area on the Srinagar Jammu highway. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday, a car bearing registration number JK18B 3678 rolled down into a deep gorge at Maroog Ramban. Immediately after, a rescue operation was launched by police, SDRF and civil QRT who have recovered one dead body as of now. The deceased was been identified as Sarfaraz Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Jabbar Bhat and a resident of Pooniwah area in Kulgam. Sarfaraz, working with the Indian Air Force, was on the way home from from Delhi in order to celebrate Eid with his family.

The Jammu Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have busted a prostitution racket in Srinagar. In a tweet, police said that a prostitution racket in a rented accommodation at Bagh-e-Mehtab area of the capital city of Kashmir. They said that two persons running this racket have been arrested. The Police identified them as Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Pampore and Mohd Shafi Hajam of Karimabad Pulwama. The Police said that four female sex workers (all locals of Srinagar) and two customers were also detained during the raid conducted by Police. Amid fresh spike in Covid-19 cases in Kashmir, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has directed all Chief Medical Officers of the Valley to increase rate of Covid-19 testing and establish Flu clinics at all health institutions. According to an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), DHSK stated that there is no increase in the Covid-19 testing rate. "Furthermore, there hasn't been any increase in the proportion testing of RT- PCR which should be the benchmark of minimum 80% of total Covid19 testing," it reads. A Delhi court acquitted three Muslim men arrested on the charges by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for bein affiliated to the Indian Mujahideen (IM), the Hindu reported. The trio was languishing in jails for several years. The discharged are Abdul Wahid (arrested since 2016), Manzar Imam (since 2013) and Ariz Khan, who had been sentencted to death in the Batla House encounter case of 2008 and was also discharged. An official said that Srinagar city will present a different look after the completion of Smart City works. He said that over 100 cycling points will be created in different parts where people can take cycles on rent. The official told that work is being fast-tracked on cycle tracks, smart vending zones, VMDs, and parking lots among other new projects started under the Smart City project in Srinagar.
