The Prayagraj police has designated slain gangster politician Atiq Ahmed’s widow, Shaista Parveen as a ‘mafia’ for the first time in an FIR lodged on May 2 in connection with the arrest of one Mohd Atin Jafar, who was arrested for sheltering her and Sabir, a listed shooter of Atiq gang. Besides the Umesh Pal murder case, Shaista has been named in seven other cases, including five of forgery and cheating, lodged at different police stations of the state. Both Shaista and Sabir, also named in the Umesh Pal murder, are supposed to be on the run together and police have announced a cash reward for anyone providing information leading to their arrest. Five shops were gutted in an overnight blaze in the Lal chowk area of Srinagar district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that flames emerged from a shop during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday which soon spread to the nearby shops. Fire tenders reached the spot and tried to control the fire, however, the fire could not be brought under control before five shops were damaged. The fire incident has caused loss worth millions, the officials said, adding, "nobody was hurt during the fire incident." Police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Mosque in Tral damaged in massive fire incident

A mosque in Tral belt of south Kashmir was damaged during a fire incident in the Pulwama district on Tuesday morning. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday morning they spotted flames emerging from the Noor ul Islam mosque in the area, after which the locala rushed out of their homes to control the fire. Within some time the men of fire and emergency services also reached the spot and are trying to bring the fire under control, they said. The mosque has suffered massive damage during the fire incident, however, nobody bas suffered injuries as of now. Masjid e Noor ul Islam also has an Islamic seminary where scores of children are provided islamic education, locals said. The cause of the fire is not known yet.

A 14-year-old boy was injured after he allegedly attempted to self immolate himself, over some romantic relationship issue on Tuesday.
