NIA raids 16 locations in J-K in case linked to newly launched militant outfits

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried searches at 16 locations across Jammu Kashmir in a case linked to newly launched militant outfits in Jammu Kashmir. In a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that the searches were carried in the premises of cadres of hybrid militants and over ground workers linked to newly formed offshoots and affiliates of several major banned Pak-backed outfits. The statement reads were conducted in Anantnag, Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Kulgam and Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri and Kishtwar districts. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been taken into custody by paramilitary forces, local GEO TV reported on Tuesday. Mr Khan was taken into custody from a court premises in Islamabad in a corruption case, the broadcaster reported. "Islamabad High Court has been occupied by Rangers, lawyers are being subjected to torture, Imran Khan's car has been surrounded," Imran Khan's aide and his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry tweeted in Urdu. Muslim students have stopped enrolling in schools during the year 2020-2021 by more than 8 per cent and Uttar Pradesh accounts for the highest decline by 36 per cent. The recently released All India Survey on Higher Education 2020–21 shows some contrasting trends, reported Indian Express. On the one hand, enrollment of Dalits, Adivasis and OBCs in higher education has increased by 4.2 per cent, 11.9 per cent and 4 per cent respectively compared to 2019-20. Army trooper dies of cardiac arrest in Kupwara

A 36-year-old army man died of cardiac arrest in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir. An official said that the trooper identified as Mohammed Yousuf Bhat of Kupwara who was posted with 160 TA at Hirri Kupwara suffered a heart attack while on duty. The trooper was immediately lifted to 168 Military Hospital Drugmulla, however the doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival, he said.
