The Bombay High Court has suspended the life sentence awarded to Afroz Khan Pathan, a convict in the sensational 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case, and granted him conditional bail. A division bench comprising Justice Revati Mohite-Dere and Justice Gauri Godse also observed that there was no prima facie evidence to prove that Pathan had visited Bangladesh to collect funds for terror activities in India – as claimed by two co-accused in their confessionals. The judges said in their order that neither of the confessions referring to Pathan prima facie show that he had in fact gone to Bangladesh and got funds, or that he had knowledge or reason to believe the purpose for which he was sent there or the larger conspiracy. Two dead, another injured as vehicle rolls down into gorge in Ramban

At least two persons died and another was injured after a vehicle they were traveling in rolled down and fell into a gorge in Rampaari area of Ramban district on Tuesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the vehicle skidded off the road near Rampaari and fell into deep gorge. He said sooon after the incident Police and some volunteers rushed to the spot for rescue operation. “In the incident two persons died on the spot while another suffered critical wounds”, the official said. Danishwar Hameed A nocturnal encounter  broke out between militants and government forces in Hawoora  area of Redwani in South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday evening. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of Army’s RR and CRPF and JKP launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. The official said that, as the joint team of forces progressed towards the suspected identified spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.
