Nearly 300 dead, 900 injured in Orissa train crash

Nearly 300 people died and over 900 were injured on Friday, June 2, after a collision occurred between two trains in Orrisa state of India. As per news reports, the collision happened between Coromandel Express and the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express. Earlier on Saturday, Vaishnaw visited the accident site and ordered a high-level probe to look into the exact reason behind the rail accident. The inquiry will be conducted by Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Southeast Circle. The Commissioner Railway Safety comes under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Hailstorm and heavy rains on Friday afternoon caused extensive damage to orchards and crop in several areas of Bandipora district. According to residents of Ashtangoo, Aloosa, Benlipora, Mangnipora and the surrounding areas, heavy rainfall and hail storms resulted in significant damage to crops. Shah Basit A Kashmiri student was found dead at a college hostel in the Kolkatta. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, a fellow student said that Mohammed Umar Ganie, a resident of Khansahab area in Budgam who was pursuing B.Tech in BBIT college in Kolkatta was found unconscious in his college hostel room after which he was rushed to the nearby hospital on Friday morning. Umar son of Bashir Ahmed Ganie was rushed to the nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
