Load carrier driver dies in Shopian road

A load carrier driver died after his vehicle collided with another in the Vehil area of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the load carrier collided with another vehicle near Vehil, resulting in injuries to the driver of the load carrier. Amid controversy over the imposition of property tax in Jammu Kashmir, the administration of Union Territory has extended the deadline for filing property tax returns. The Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD) has amended the rules governing the imposition of property tax in Jammu & Kashmir after the deadline for furnishing of property tax returns elapsed. 24% excess rainfall in May this year in Jammu Kashmir

Jammu Kashmir has recorded an excess rainfall of 24 per cent in the month of May as against the normal precipitation of 77.5 per cent, the region has recorded 96.3 mm rainfall last month. According to the data available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the highest excess precipitation was recorded in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts of Jammu division where 260 per cent, 147 per cent and 105 per cent rainfall was recorded in the month of May. An encounter broke out between militants and government forces in the Dassal forest area of Rajouri district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday morning a joint team of Government forces including the Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir Police following an input about militant movement laid a cordon and search operation in Rajouri forest area. During the cordon and search operation, he said, the forces came under heavy fire from militants, to which the forces responded.
