The Jammu Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested four militant associates and recovered grenades from their possession. In a press release, Police said, Kulgam Police along with 1RR busted grenade throwing terror module, and militant associates/Conspirators were arrested. On 24-05-2022, a grenade was hurled at a police party at the main chowk Yaripora, however, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded in the crowd nearby in which 13 persons got injured. Central Government passes bill to allow private sector to mine lithium, 5 other atomic minerals

A bill to allow the private sector to mine six atomic minerals, including lithium, and deep-seated minerals like gold and silver was approved by the Lok Sabha today. The Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023 was passed by the Lok Sabha through a voice vote, amid continuous sloganeering by Opposition members over the Manipur issue. The bill seeks to allow the private sector to mine six out of 12 atomic minerals. Under the existing act, all 12 atomic minerals are reserved for mining and exploration by state-owned entities. The atomic minerals which will be opened for private sector exploration are lithium (used in the manufacture of batteries in electric vehicles, and other energy storage devices), beryllium, niobium, titanium, tantalum, and zirconium. ...

J-K poll body chief orders revision of electoral rolls of SMC, JMC

In a significant move, Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Electoral Officer on Friday ordered special revision of electoral rolls for Srinagar and Jammu Municipal Corporations. In an order, a copy of which is in possession of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the CEO has ordered a special summary revision of electoral rolls for SMC and JMC. The move is seen as the first step towards holding Urban Local Body polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
