Protests continue against smart meters as Sopore residents hit roads

People on Wednesday staged a protest in Sopore areas against the installation of smart meters by the Power Development Department (PDD). An eyewitness told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that men, women staged protests and raised slogans against PDD ar Takyabal and Jalalabad localities of Sopore. The protestors blocked the Sopore-Bandipora road at Police station and Jalalabad respectively, thus halting the traffic movement. Later, traffic was restored with the intervention of police. 18-year-old youth allegedly kills self in north Kashmir

An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide in the Banyari village of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday evening. Officials quoted by news agency KNO, said that the deceased (name with held), aged 18 was a resident of Banayari. They said his body was found hanging in an open field outside his home.
