Eye flu cases rise over 21,000 in Jammu Kashmir

Hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir continue to receive patients complaining of irritation, redness, swelling and itching in their eyes with rise in 'eye flu' patients. Doctors from Kashmir and Jammu divisions told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that cases of conjunctivitis, popularly known as ‘eye flu’, are on the rise. They, however, said there is no need to worry as it goes away in one to two weeks. An official from the Directorate of Health Services Jammu told KNO that 12,598 cases of conjunctivitis were reported in Jammu division including GMC Jammu. Youth found hanging under mysterious circumstances in apple orchard in Shopian

Meer Irfan A youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Shopian district of south Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday morning locals spotted the body of one local youth (name with held) hanging inside an orchard in the Zaipora area of Shopian. Locals called the Police who rushed to the spot and took the body into their possession. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.

IED detected, destroyed in Jammu

The government forces on Tuesday morning averted a major tragedy by detecting and destroying an improvised explosive device (IED) in Panjgrain Nagrota in Jammu division. An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that suspicious object after found at Jammu division been destroyed by the Technical Team / Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) through a controlled mechanism. He said the traffic now from both sides has been restored. The officer further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up. (KS)

Dr. Irfan Sofi, the Principal Investigator of the project, and his research team will assess the extent to which Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme has helped in reducing the consumption of solid fuels for cooking, and evaluate the health benefits of the same for women particularly in rural areas of Jammu Kashmir.
