As brick prices soar, Budgam residents seek support in reviving traditional brick-making

With brick prices soaring in the valley, many people in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have started building houses using traditional bricks known as Koand Seer. Some of them even want to start making these bricks to earn livelihood and ease other people’s “burdens”. Many people in Budgam who made houses using Koan Seer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the centuries-old brick-making process is a promising solution in the wake of “exorbitant” brick rates. In continuation of renaming public places, and educational institutes, the Jammu Kashmir admin on Saturday renamed the Government Primary school in Panzath area of Qazigund. A grand event had been called on the renaming occasion which was attended by ZEO Qazigund, Headmaster of the said institute, Auqaf committee members, SHO Qazigund along with others. The school was renamed after ASI Abdul Rashid Shah, a resident of Panzath, Wanpora, who died in the line of duty on August 28, 2017 at Mehandi Kadal Anantnag. Bandipora man dies as car rams into divider in Srinagar

A traveler died on the spot as a car rammed into a permanent divider in Umarabad HMT area on Srinagar-Baramulla highway on Saturday morning. Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the speeding car lost control and rammed into a divider. The impact was so great that the man sitting back seat came out crashing from the window of the vehicle. The deceased has been identified as Ali Muhammad Bhat, a resident of Odina village of Sonawari Sumbal that falls in the district of Bandipora. Kashmiri students studying at Mewar University were attacked by goons on Friday night in the Chittorgarh district. Family members speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Engineer Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Baramulla has been missing from his home since Friday evening. A massive fire broke out in a Hariparigam village of Awantipora sub division of south Kashmir's Pulwama district last late evening. Official sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll (KS) that fire broke out in the house of Ali Mohammad Ganaie, Son of Mohammad Sultan, resident of Hariparigam area of Awantipora.
