Police on Sunday detained a 38-year-old woman and her daughter for allegedly offering namaz at a Shiva temple here along with a cleric, officials said. They said the action was taken after police received a complaint from the Kesarpur village head’s husband, Prem Singh, who alleged that the incident took place on Friday. Circle Officer (CO) of the area Gaurav Singh said the woman and her daughter allegedly offered namaz at the temple on the cleric’s advice. “We have detained one Nazeer (38), her daughter Sabina (19) and cleric Chaman Shah Miyan in a case of hurting religious sentiments,” he said. Kashmiri journalist and TV panelist Majid Hyderi has been booked under the Public Safety Act and shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, his mother confirmed that the senior journalist has been booked under the Public Safety Act and shifted to the Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. "We have not been provided any paperwork as of yet. Three hardcore over ground workers were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Kishtwar district of the Jammu region on Monday, police said. Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that three hardcore OGWs have been booked under PSA. "The activities of trio after their bail was suspicious following which they have been booked under PSA and shifted to different jails of Jammu," he said. Showkat Ahmad Rather, posted as Lecturer of Persian at Government Higher Secondary School Wagar Khansahib Budgam, has been suspended from his position in violation of Rule 22(i) of the Jammu Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971. For the first time, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has deployed companies of Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA) in the jungles of Kashmir. Insiders on condition of anonymity said that a couple of companies have been deployed in the forests of Kupwara where they will deal with the alleged infiltrators. They said that CoBRA companies were shifted from Bihar and Jharkhand in April this year and after taking training in Kashmir jungles, they for the first time have been deployed in the forests of Kupwara district. 3-year-old boy killed in leopard attack in Handwara

A 3-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack in Rajwar area of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district this morning. Reports reaching GNS said that one Burhan Ahmad, son of Mohammad Kamal Mir of Marchwali Nichhama was pounced upon by a leopard outside his home this morning. The beast dragged the minor to some distance and upon chased by the family and villagers, left the boy with critical injuries. The boy was evacuated to a nearby health facility at Behnipora, where he succumbed shortly after.
