Punjab Police has confirmed that the FIR lodged against the students of Desh Bhagat University will be cancelled and an FIR has been registered against the University Officials. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the Station House Officer of the concerned Police Station Amloh said that the process for the cancellation of FIR registered against 16 students has been initiated. "Yes, they FIR has been cancelled, but the formal procedure takes a couple of days," the officer said. He said that an FIR has been registered against 16 persons working at the University vide the number 135/ 2023. The persisting dry weather across the valley has brought down the water level in Jhelum to 70 -year low in the month of September. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the valley has been witnessing dry weather for more than a month, which has complicated the problems of water scarcity and irrigation for the farmers. While the southern parts of the valley have recorded rainfall on Friday and Saturday, central and north parts of the valley continue to reel under dry weather conditions. Bandipora: Army man kills colleague in ‘accidental fire’, arrested

An army man died, while another one was injured after service rifle of one of the army men accidently went off in Bapora area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district. Bandipora police in a post on X, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) informed that the accused army personnel has been detained. Police said that in the incident one army man has died and another one was injured, while legal action has been initiated. "There has been an accidental discharge of weapon resulting in one fatal casuality and one injury to army personnel. Accused army personnel has been detained. Employees of Power Development Department on Saturday protested on second consecutive day at Srinagar and other district headquarters over their long pending service demands. The incident at Desh Bhagat University has taken a new turn after the Police registered a new FIR against the university officials and said that the FIR against students including Kashmiris would be withdrawn. In a statement, Punjab Police said that after taking all the facts and the order of the events into consideration, the Police is likely to withdraw the FIR registered against students.
