Cop kills elder brother over land dispute in Jammu Kashmir

A younger brother has killed his elder brother over some land dispute in Doda district of Jammu division on Saturday. An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a younger brother identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad son of Nazir Ahmad attacked his elder brother Ishtiyaq Ahmad over some land dispute. "In the incident, Ishtiyaq received injuries and he was shifted to SDH Gundwah from where he was referred to GMC Doda where he succumbed to injuries," he added. He added that Ishtiyaq was working as teacher while Imtiyaz is Special Police Officer of J&K Police. Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident and two persons have been already arrested in this regard while further investigation has been taken up.(KS)

Security forces on Saturday claimed to have busted two militant hideouts in the southern region of Kashmir. An official told Kashmir Scroll that two militant hideouts were busted by security forces in the Gujar Basti area of Gulshanpora Tral. On world heart day, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) said air pollution increases the risk of heart attacks. “Polluted air heightens your chances of having a heart attack,” said DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Dr Hassan said according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) people exposed to fine particulate air pollutants have an increased risk of experiencing a heart attack. Suhail Dar The family of a missing youth from Kulgam has made an appeal asking people to help them trace their kin. Identified as Zakir Ahmed Ganie, a resident of Motalhama in Kulgam's Quimoh belt, the 26-year-old left his home on Wednesday and has been missing home since. "He was working as a labourer. He told his parents that he was going to return after work at Dialgam Anantnag, but he did not return causing panic among his family members," his brother told The Kashmiriyat. He stated that the absence of Zakir forced the family to file a missing report at the concerned Police station. Zakir is the only earning hand for his old aged parents as he and his other brother live separately with their own families, he added.

Family members speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Zehran Najar aged 19, a resident of Noorpora in Tral has been missing for the last six days. They said that Zehran son of Rafiq Ahmed Najar, a cameraman by profession left his home for a wedding shoot, but did not return home. After he didn't return home, the family searched him everywhere, but in vain.
