Five militants have been killed as forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Machil Sector in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday, police said. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Kashmir Zone Police said, "Three (03) more terrorists of LeT killed (Total 05). Identification being ascertained. Search #operation in progress. Further details shall follow." Earlier, Police said that that based on a specific input, an encounter started in Machil Sector in which two infiltrators were killed.

A special police officer (SPO) has gone missing from his residence in north Kashmir's Sopore village, merely four days after his wedding sources said. Sources told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that Tahir Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Akbar Dar a resident of Dooru Sopore, was last seen at his home yesterday, and his whereabouts have since remained unknown. Mehbooba Mufti re-elected PDP president

Former Jammu  Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti was on Thursday re-elected as president of the People’s Democratic Party for a term of three years. One of the party leaders, who was part of the election process said that Mehbooba Mufti was reelected as president at party headquarters in Srinagar. The election process was done through a voice vote, he said. He said that Vice President Abdul Rehman Veeri proposed the name of Mehbooba Mufti as the president, which was seconded by party general Secretary Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura. Mehbooba Mufti has been elected as the party president president for 4th term in a row. The election to the party’s highest post is held after every three years.
