War against militancy will be over only when one side accepts defeat: DGP Swain

Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain Monday said that war against militancy is not over yet in J&K and will be over only when one side accepts the defeat. According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Director General of Police J&K RR Swain while speaking to reporters at Gurudwara Chatipadshahi said that war against militancy in not over yet in J&K. "It will be over only when one side accepts the defeat," DGP said. He said till the fight is in our side we have to move forward despite suffering losses. He also said that we cannot retreat ourselves from this war but can ensure minimum damage to common masses with the help of our fighting forces. (KNS)

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecasted the likelihood of light rain or snow in Jammu Kashmir on November 29 and 30. The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with isolated instances of light rain or snow on November 27 and 28, followed by more widespread precipitation from November 29 to 30. From December 1 to 5, the weather is predicted to be partly cloudy, according to the Meteorological Office. Despite a slight improvement in temperatures, cold conditions persisted in the Kashmir Valley, with fog affecting isolated areas, including Dal Lake in Srinagar, on Sunday. 75-year-old woman dies, three injured in gas cylinder blast in Srinagar

A 75-year-old woman died while three other family members were critically injured after a gas cylinder blast occurred due to fire incident in Lal Bazar area of Srinagar on Sunday, officials said. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that fire broke out in a residential house in Lal Bazar area during which cylinder blast took place. He said that in the incident a woman, identified as Khatija Begum (75), died while three other family members sustained injuries. The Jammu Kashmir administration has announced winter vacation for schools in the Kashmir valley amid the growing cold. In a notification, the Jammu Kashmir admin announced that upto class 8th, the schools will remain shut from 28 November, 2023 till late February. For classes upto 12th, the administration has announced winter vacations from 11th December, 2023. As per the order, the schools will remain shut till 29th February.
