Israeli ship attacked by Iran in Indian Ocean

An Israeli-owned ship was damaged in a suspected drone attack by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Indian Ocean, a US defence official said on Saturday. "We are aware of reports that there was a suspected IRGC-initiated Shahed-136 UAV (that) struck a civilian motor vessel in the Indian Ocean," the official said adding that "the ship incurred minor damage" and there were "no injuries".

The prevalence of opioid use in Jammu Kashmir is on the rise, with heroin being the most commonly abused drug, according to doctors. Dr Aadil, a Medical Officer at the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) in District Hospital Shopian, informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an increasing number of patients seeking treatment are opioid users, with heroin being the most commonly abused opioid in J-K. “Approximately 90-95 percent of patients visiting the facility for treatment are opioid users,” he said, adding that heroin is the predominant opioid in use across the districts. A central reserve police force (CRPF) trooper allegedly committed suicide in Kishtwar district sources said. Reliable sources told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a CRPF constable identified as Mansh Ranjan Dass, son of Harihar Dass of Odisha, who was posted at Kishtwar, ended his life by allegedly committing suicide inside the unit. Centre sets 7-day ultimatum for social media platforms to tackle Deepfake videos

The Centre on Friday gave a seven-day deadline to social media platforms to tweak their policies as per Indian regulations in order to address the spread of deepfakes on their platforms. Deepfakes could be subject to action under the current IT Rules, particularly Rule 3(1)(b), which mandates the removal of 12 types of content within 24 hours of receiving user complaints, said Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar. The government will also take action of 100 per cent of such violations under the IT Rules in the future. "They are further mandated to remove such content within 24 hours upon receiving a report from either a user or government authority.
